“Where Should Mom/Dad Live”
Caring for Aging Parents or Love One
Bergen “50plus Lifestyle” Conference has included a panel session bringing together Industry Leaders from Elder Care Communities of Independent Living, Assisted and Skilled Nursing Care, Memory and Home Care, and Adult Day Services.
Senior Living Options – The time will come when your parents or loved ones will not be able to live independently and where you may have to consider other living arrangements before your family is in a crisis mode.
Seniors living alone have expanded greatly in recent years with assisted living facilities, meals on wheels, home health care aides, Memory care, etc. For some families, situations such as moving a parent in with an adult child, is the first and only option.
Many families feel an obligation to invite a parent into their home when caregiving needs increase. The families believe this is the “Right” or “Best” thing to do, regardless of other options available. In fact, depending on individual circumstances, some adult children just assume that Mom/Dad would prefer to move in with them, but Mom/Dad may have very different ideas! Before that happens, you need to understand – What should families consider?
The panel will provide a glimpse of what it’s really all about in caring for a love one, and the difference between Elder Care Communities.
Attendees will have an opportunity to “Ask Questions and Get Answers” from the confusion, panic, and lack of information expected to experience when faced with the sudden need to care for an aging love one. A session to share your experience and understand aging seniors are not alone.
